Indie music I'm digging...

Next Big Thing

I learned of Tim Anthony (the other half of this duo is his cousin, Lou Anthony) of The Brambles on Facebook. He was friends with  a good number of my friends. When I kept seeing his name pop up and references to his music, I checked it out. And I'm happy that I did! Every song on this CD is a keeper; there are no throwaways here. Next Big Thing is probably my very favorite and Gotta Be Love is a close second. This one is in my car CD player frequently!

Homeless in Washington, DC

Two blocks from the White House
He lives in a box
Once he lived in a house
With windows and doors and clocks
Now his time is his own
But there's nowhere he can call home.

Hurricane Irene pix-Part I

Scenes from around Mathews County, Virginia, before, during, and after Hurricane Irene. My camera is a small, basic Canon digital. The photos look black and white due to weather conditions.

Noah! Noah! Where IS that ark?!
Water rising rapidy
Hard to believe the dock is now almost completely under water!
This seagul was looking rather worried....
The public boat landing, he water is normally NOT this high! Charlie and Toby wait in the Jeep as it was raining and high winds.

Cows in Hallieford...

Since we've lived in this county for just over 4 years now, I thought that I should get out and explore some of the side roads I've never been down. Glad I did, as I found a most unique scene. There was a "private property" sign which tells outsiders that this is not a public park and they're keeping the crazy to themselves. But I gotta say--I'd love to meet the folks who do stuff like this...
